Canwell Glacier

up

Looking down the Canwell Glacier from near our camp. We walked up the huge medial moraine--much safer than walking on the ice.

Looking west you see many layers of mountains.

The two other guys on the hike.

At the bottom of the glacier the melt water is full of rock dust also known as "glacier flour". In many places the water was bubbling rapidly out of the ground. The water gets forces underground by the weight of the glacier. It comes up anywhere it can. Here it is coming up in the middle of the stream.
